We understand you are all concerned about the news reports regarding Corona Virus (COVID-19).   We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the important steps you can take personally and how you can best access our clinic.

COVID-19 is a virus.  In most cases it begins like a cold with fever, scratchy or sore throat and a dry cough.  In some people it may get worse.  This feels like a heavy feeling in your chest, shortness of breath, high fevers and sputum (dark phlegm).

If you do come down with symptoms or for general medical appointments, please call our clinic at 250-286-0601.  A phone/video visit will be scheduled to help keep you from coming in contact with others who may be ill.  If, at the time of this visit it is determined that you need to be seen in person, arrangements will be made to either have you come in to the clinic or arrangements will be made for you to be tested. To keep yourself protected during this time the best thing you can do is:

  • Wash your hands before and after eating, toileting or public contact. Hand sanitizer works well in public places.  Take at least 30 seconds to wash your hands in warm water using soap.

  • Sneeze or cough into your elbow and encourage others to do so. If you use a hankie, change it after each use or, if possible, use a tissue. Avoid those who are coughing and sneezing.

  • Clean surfaces regularly.  If you are unable to use cleaning wipes, a solution of 1 part bleach and 9 parts water is a good everyday cleaner.

  • Keep in touch with friends and family by phone and try to limit going out in public spaces.  If you do, bring hand sanitizer and maintain social distancing.

Of course, at Quinsam Medical we want to ensure you have the best access to your most appropriate care. We will make sure that we are part of any health issues that may arise for you during this global health challenge.
